Porto di Andora, a recipient of the European Blue Flag, will be the first Italian marine to promote the collection and disposal of waste cooking oil produced by boaters while stopping over or in transit in the Italian port facilities by distributing special containers for free.The initiative will be launched on 5 June, to mark W.E.D. World Environment Day, the annual celebration in defence of the environment, by laying the base station for collecting cans for leftover oils and fats and delivering them to the marina staff.
On the same morning, the agency Eccoci, under the direction of Marco Doctor, will direct pupils and students on the tourism-business course at the "Giancardi" school, who will act as stewards of the environment in a promo raising awareness for the environmental campaign "Zero edible oils in the Cetacean Sanctuary." Using QRCODE technology, the advert will be added to all the containers distributed in the ports included in the triangle of Punta Escampobariou (near the French city of Toulon), Capo Falcone and Capo Ferro (Sardinia) and Chiarone (on the border between Tuscany and Lazio), spanning a maritime area of approximately 87,500 km2.
The communication plan for the environmental campaign, which is involving all the ports in the marine area of the sanctuary, has been prepared by class V of the tourism services course under the guidance of teacher Franco Laureri. The graphic design has been contributed by Nuova C Plastica, a company specialising in the production of plastic containers that has always actively defended the environment. Further collaboration was provided by the partner LISO, one of Liguria's leading companies in the collection and disposal of food oils and fats.
The project has been implemented with the help of the Marine of Andora, with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Andora, and has been coordinated by Antonella Annitto, Monica Barbera and Franco Laureri, teachers at the F. Maria Giancardi Alassio Hotel Institute.
